FAQ
Cardiothoracic fellowship
questions.
What is a cardiothoracic subspecialty fellowship?
Training taken after core cardiothoracic (or cardiac or thoracic) surgery residency or an equivalent specialist qualification, focused on one area such as adult cardiac, congenital, general thoracic, transplant and mechanical circulatory support, aortic or thoracic oncology surgery.
Which programmes does CTS Fellow list?
Only subspecialty fellowships taken after core specialty training. Residencies, specialty training pathways, national or college specialist qualifications, observerships, clinical electives and grants are left out. Records that fail the scope review are withheld. See the methodology and the editorial policy.
How do I find a cardiothoracic fellowship in my country, city or hospital?
Browse by continent, country or institution, or search the home page by programme, institution, city or focus. Each country page lists its cities and institutions.
How current are the deadlines and statuses?
Each profile shows the date it was last verified against the official source. Application statuses are recalculated daily from published closing dates; a past date closes an Open or Upcoming record. Details change often, so confirm everything with the programme before applying. The deadlines page orders every fellowship by status.
Does a listing mean the programme is accredited, ranked or recruiting?
No. A listing is not accreditation, endorsement, a ranking or proof that applications are open. Clinical participation always depends on local licensing and institutional approval.
Can international graduates apply?
It depends on the programme. Where an official page states whether international applicants are accepted, the profile says so; otherwise it stays marked as not publicly listed. See the guides on international applicants, visas and work rights and licensing and registration.
Where does the information come from?
From each programme's official institutional or society page. Unpublished details stay visibly unknown rather than being estimated. Faculty profiles are listed only where official programme material names the person.
How do I suggest a programme or correct an entry?
Use the submission form for a new programme, or the Report a correction link on any programme page. Include an official source. Submission does not guarantee publication, and listed programmes receive no ranking advantage.
Is CTS Fellow affiliated with any hospital, society or programme?
No. The directory is independent and source-led. Any sponsored placement would have to be disclosed explicitly.
